Zoey Jade Brooks (Jamie Lynn Spears) is the titular character and the main protagonist of Zoey 101, which includes the revival film, Zoey 102. Zoey is the oldest child of Mr. Brooks and Mrs. Brooks. She is also the older sister of Dustin Brooks as well.
In Season 1, she is roommates with Nicole Bristow and Dana Cruz. In Season 2, she is roommates with Nicole once again and Lola Martinez, a new PCA student at the time. In Seasons 3 and 4, she is roommates with Lola Martinez and Quinn Pensky. Her other friends Chase Matthews and Michael Barret. She is frenemies with Logan Reese as well. Zoey Brooks enjoys basketball and is one of the first girls on the PCA Basketball Team. She also enjoys designing clothes and backpacks and is quite good at playing Disc Golf. She is a good actress and won the role of a female alien in the school play alongside Logan Reese. Zoey owns a pink Jet X and enjoys eating at Sushi Rox. She ran for class president, but dropped out since she didn't want to cause anymore conflict due to her friendship with Chase. Zoey Brooks has two enemies, Rebecca and Stacy, but she is mostly friends with everyone at PCA and has one boyfriend throughout most of the series, who is named James Garrett. She even had one boyfriend for only one episode Lance Rivers. Zoey Brooks sticks up for her friends and her little brother and proves herself as a true friend.
Background
History
Zoey Brooks (Seasons 1-4) is the female lead character on Zoey 101. She starts at Pacific Coast Academy as an eighth grader in Season 1. Almost every boy at PCA likes her, including Chase Matthews, though she never lets that go to her head. She notably wears a necklace with her dorm key on it, as she kept misplacing her key and locking herself out of her room. Zoey Brooks has used her talents to design clothes and backpacks, among other things. She is one of PCA's first ever female students.
One of Zoey's best friends is honor student Chase Matthews, who showed her around campus during her first day at PCA. Chase Matthews has a serious crush on Zoey Brooks, although Zoey never truly realized it until the season finale of season 3 episode titled, Goodbye Zoey. Zoey is also close with her roommates, and with Chase's roommates Michael Barrett and Logan Reese.
Zoey Brooks is currently one of the only girls on PCA's basketball team. Zoey is a natural leader, whose spunk, charm, and independent nature help her rally up any kind of support. In the season finale of season 3, "Goodbye Zoey", she moves to London to go to a preparatory school called Covington while her dad works in England. She comes back to tell Chase her genuine feelings towards him, after overhearing through a webcast malfunction of Chase telling Michael Barret and Logan Reese that he loved her romantically. However, he transferred to Covington in London in order to see Zoey, although she goes back to PCA to speak to him. Despite that, Chase decided that he must be with her. They try to date via webcam but think that it wouldn't work out and that they would have to wait until Chase Matthews returns to PCA after one full semester.
While Chase Matthews is in London, Zoey meets and start dating Michael and Logan's new roommate, James Garrett. He tells her that he loves her before prom. Zoey, unsure of her feelings, chooses to break up with him, though they decide to remain friends. After a long wait, Chase and Zoey reunite once more and share their first kiss. They officially become a couple in the series finale, Chasing Zoey. However, they break up when she was a no show, by the time Chase arrived in Hawaii without her.
Personality
Zoey Brooks is a very friendly person and is depicted through the show as being caring and compassionate towards others. Outgoing and well liked, her friends and peers often looked to her for advice and guidance, as she was the group's "fixer” and "idea girl”. Zoey always tries to be loyal to her friends, even when it was hard to do so, and often puts her friends’ needs before her own and has even been shown to try and help anyone in need. She is quick to rectify her wrongs and was usually the first willing to apologize for her mistakes. She is generally a straight A student and shown to dislike having to keep secrets from her friends, as shown in the episode of "Zoey's Tutor", when she hides the fact that Logan Reese is tutoring her in Chemistry because of her embarrassment.
However, she is not above displaying her anger and holding a grudge, as shown in the episode of "The Radio", when she and Chase have a falling out over a misunderstanding. She is known to be competitive, moody and sometimes stubborn.
She is also very girly, and her favorite color is pink, as she owns lots of pink things like, a Jet X, a laptop and other kinds of stuff. Zoey often forgets her room key, so she made her own necklace with her key on it and painted pink spots on it and also added a sparkling hot pink 'Z' pendant. She likes to spend time with her friends at Sushi Rox, eating lunch, doing homework in the lounge and hanging out in their dorm rooms. Zoey is portrayed as sensible, playful, honest, opinionated and intelligent individual. She's a born leader with the ability to rally others to join her cause. She is defined, not only by her faith in herself, but her strong faith in her friends.
Skills and abilities
As stated above, Zoey Brooks really had a knack for solving problems and is usually the one of the "group" to think through tough situations and help people out of their troubles. Zoey enjoys sports and is on the basketball team with her friend Dana Cruz in Season 1 and is also on the disc golf team with Chase Matthews, Michael Barret, Logan Reese, Dana Cruz and Nicole Bristow, Zoey is not a fast runner and sometimes struggles during running class. In the episode of "Wrestling", Zoey managed to break up a fight between two sixth graders by herself and joined the wrestling team because of this. In the episode "Surprise", Zoey reveals that she has spent one summer being a lifeguard after her 10th grade year.
Zoey is also very good in her classes and is a straight-"A" student. Throughout the series, Zoey Brooks has been shown to receive excellent grades in her classes, despite struggling in Chemistry at one time in Season 3. In the season three finale episode Goodbye Zoey, she was invited to attend a prestigious preparatory boarding school in London, England and which Zoey accepted the offer around when an upset Chase wanted her to.
Physical appearance
Zoey Brooks has fair smooth skin and brown eyes. She is shown with an average height and of a slight build. Zoey is very attractive and has a lot of guys lining up for her. From the start of Season 2, she usually tans her skin. In Seasons 1 and 2, had long (usually straight) light flowing blonde hair, going down to her shoulders. In subsequent seasons, she dyed her blonde hair with brown highlights (usually curly). Season 1 is the only season where Zoey's hair is combed right-sided, whereas the remainder of the series, her hair is combed left-sided instead. Zoey has a foot abnormality, like Lola and Quinn, having a corn-chipped toenail.
After the episode New Roomies, Zoey Brooks always has been wearing her room key, around her neck due to forgetting it when she left the room. She also frequently wears pink-colored clothes, as she is fairly girly. She often wears blue jeans, or leggings with gym shoes or flats, along with other clothing.

Chase was the first-person Zoey Brooks met at PCA. The first time she spoke to him was when he rode his bike into a flagpole and cut his elbow. He then showed her around PCA and to her dorm room, room 101 in Butler Hall. Zoey Brooks and Chase's relationship grew throughout the first season and although despite everyone telling him to tell Zoey his feelings for her, Chase Matthews still kept it from Zoey Brooks and occasionally would turn into lying to her to stop her from knowing. Zoey Brooks and Chase Matthews had several arguments and fall outs during season 2 and 3 such as in the episode of The Election, Zoey and Chase Matthews were both competing to be class president and dropped out. Another argument happened in the season 3 episode, The Radio, where Chase gave Zoey Brooks a radio and then wanted it back. However, Zoey Brooks refused. Throughout the series, Chase would go to lengths to find out if Zoey Brooks felt the same way about him. In the episode Time Capsule Chase stole Zoey's tape out of the time capsule and tried to watch it but decided not to know about how Zoey Brooks feels about him. Zoey Brooks says she doesn't have feelings for Chase Matthews and does not believe the people who tell her, although she gets jealous when Chase Matthews is with another girl.
In the episode of Lola Likes Chase, Zoey Brooks was very clearly jealous that her friend Lola Martinez had a crush on Chase, but she didn't tell Chase about this; the crush eventually sorted itself out when the two found they had nothing in common.
When Zoey Brooks was offered to go to England with her parents, everyone had heard about it except Chase, and he thought she had decided to go without talking to him first and was upset. Zoey Brooks decides to go and then leaves, when Michael accidentally left the webcam connected to Zoey's computer in England on, she overheard Chase talking to Logan and Michael about how he is in love with Zoey Brooks and that he has been in love with her since the minute he first laid eyes on her, she later decides to return to PCA to be with Chase but it turns out Chase had gone to England to be with her and explains that he cannot come back to PCA until he completed an entire semester in England. While he is gone Zoey Brooks dates James Garrett, Logan Reese and Michael's new roommate. After they break up, Chase Matthews returns, and he and Zoey Brooks share a kiss and attend the prom together as a couple. They broke up sometime after high school, as revealed in Zoey 102.
Quinn Pensky

Zoey Brooks and Quinn Pensky became friends in the episode of New Roomies, where Zoey Brooks temporarily stayed with Quinn Pensky after Zoey Brooks began arguing with her roommates. Quinn Pensky happily performed several scientific experiments on her, to Zoey's dismay. After Zoey Brooks grew tired of this, she sought to move out of Quinn's room but felt bad because she didn't want to hurt Quinn's feelings (although Quinn Pensky ironically wanted to do the same due to Zoey's reluctance in being part of Quinn's experiments).
As the series progressed, Zoey Brooks and Quinn Pensky gradually grew closer together. In the Season 2 premiere, Back to PCA, Quinn moves into the room next door to Zoey, Nicole Bristow, and Lola's room, and is so excited that she installs an HDTV inside both rooms so they can video chat to their will. In the episode of Robot Wars, after Logan Reese calls Quinn Pensky a dork behind her back and everyone laughs - Zoey Brooks included. Zoey Brooks is the first one to talk to Quinn and apologizes. Quinn is shocked to see that the gang, especially Zoey Brooks laughed at Logan's remark and that she thought that Zoey was her friend. In the end of the episode, Zoey Brooks along with everyone else made up and Quinn Pensky forgives them.
In Season 3, Zoey Brooks and Quinn Pensky become roommates and best friends, although at first Zoey Brooks and Lola Martinez are hesitant to let Quinn room with them. In the episode of Surprise, Quinn is persistent on getting Zoey Brooks to realize that Chase is in love with Zoey Brooks. In the episode of Chase's Girlfriend, Quinn Pensky immediately began to dislike her (most likely for being the reason that Zoey Brooks and Chase Matthews aren't in a romantic relationship). After hearing that Rebecca threatened Zoey Brooks, Quinn Pensky grabbed one of her Quinnventions and said, "I'll be back in 10 minutes". In the sequel episode of Zoey's Balloon, after seeing Zoey Brooks dressed in a banana suit, Quinn asks her why she is dressed as such, but Zoey Brooks doesn't want to answer. Quinn Pensky expresses to Zoey Brooks that because they are roommates, Zoey Brooks should be able to confide in her anything. After Zoey Brooks confesses that Zoey Brooks is being blackmailed, Quinn Pensky stays up all night in their room to find the culprit and goes to great lengths with Lola Martinez to stop Firewire and Rebecca, who are the people responsible for Zoey's dilemma. In Zoey 102, she continues to be good friends with Quinn.
Lola Martinez

Lola Martinez was Zoey's second roommate in her second year at PCA. Lola Martinez and Zoey Brooks got on along most of the time and became best friends. Lola stood beside Zoey Brooks in the movie episode of Spring Break-Up when Chase Matthews was suspected of cheating in the competition. Though Zoey Brooks is sometimes put off by Lola's more eccentric behavior, the two would do anything for each other, such as Lola Martinez helping Quinn Pensky foil Rebecca and Firewire or Zoey Brooks doing everything she could to help Lola Martinez when she accidentally promised $600 to a charity.
Such was their friendship, that their only major argument was in the season 3 episode of Miss PCA when they were arguing over a beauty pageant only to make up by the episode's end. After that Zoey Brooks and Lola Martinez became closer and never had an argument again although Zoey Brooks initially disapproved of Lola's relationship with Vince Blake. She had been given a mention in the revival film, but didn't get any real significance in the plot.
Michael Barret

Zoey Brooks met Michael Barret on her first day at PCA when she was challenged to a Girls vs Boys basketball match by Logan Reese. After discovering Michael Barret is good friend, Zoey Brooks soon became best friends with Michael Barret. Zoey Brooks, throughout the series supported Michael Barret and he supported her.
Logan Reese

Logan Reese was the fourth person Zoey Brooks met on her first day at PCA and they didn't start off on good terms when Zoey Brooks wanted to join the basketball team, but he said girls cannot play, which then led to a boys vs. girls basketball match. Zoey Brooks and Logan Reese are friends most of the time but have an argument on almost every episode of the show he appears in. He often flirts with her Lola Martinez, Dana Cruz, and Nicole Bristow, but he always gets rejected by them. Because Logan Reese is so selfish, it is often what triggers arguments between him and Zoey Brooks. In the episode of Prank Week, the prank war almost resulted in Zoey Brooks being expelled from PCA only for Logan Reese to pull a prank and claim all the guys had done it forcing Mr. Bradford to let Zoey Brooks stay (because he couldn't expel everyone), and in the episode of Wrestling, after Zoey Brooks was injured fighting Chuck Javers, Logan Reese went to confront him only to wind up heavily bruised for his efforts showing that, although the two often bicker, they have each other's backs. Logan was also visibly saddened in the season 3 finale on the episode of Goodbye Zoey when it looked like Zoey Brooks would leave PCA. A few moments suggested that the two might have been attracted to one another. In the episode of "Spring Break-Up" Zoey Brooks called Logan hot and in the episode of "Zoey's Tutor" Logan Reese wanted to kiss Zoey Brooks. Although it could have simply been their propensity for flirting.
James Garrett

James became Michael and Logan's new roommate after Chase Matthews left, and then became Zoey's new boyfriend, they dated from the episodes Rumor of Love to Chasing Zoey. Zoey Brooks and James had a good relationship and never argued with each other. The couple tried to have a romantic dinner at Vaccaros, after believing no one else in PCA could afford it but it got ruined by the rest of the gang. But to make up for it, the rest of the gang planned for them to have a quiet dinner on the PCA volleyball court. In the episode of Chasing Zoey, James gave Zoey Brooks a necklace saying he loves her, but Zoey Brooks ended up breaking up with him because she loved Chase more than she loved him. In spite of this, they agree to remain friends.
Nicole Bristow

Nicole Bristow was the second person Zoey Brooks met at PCA and one of her first roommates. Zoey Brooks and Nicole Bristow got along most of the time and barely argued, but Nicole Bristow would sometimes be upset with Zoey Brooks when she didn't stick up for her when she would have arguments with their third roommate Dana Cruz in season 1 and when Zoey Brooks agreed with the rest of the group that Nicole shouldn't play in the tournament of Disc Golf in the episode of The Election, even though she knew she was terrible at it. Nicole Bristow ignored Zoey Brooks when everyone had believed that she had made a nasty video about Chase Matthews to get more votes. Nicole became one of Zoey's best friends straight away in the series, Zoey Brooks and Nicole Bristow were almost always together during their time at PCA, and Nicole proved herself to be a good friend to Zoey Brooks by staying with her on the basketball game against the boys, despite the fact that Nicole wasn't good at sports and stuck with her when Zoey believed that Chase cheated in a competition in the movie episode of Spring Break-Up. Zoey Brooks was the first person that Nicole Bristow talked to about not returning to PCA during the third season and said that would come back, but for the rest of the series she was at Malibu Girls School and still kept in contact with Zoey Brooks. Despite this, it's possible that Nicole is still on good terms with her during or before the events of Zoey 102, but it's left unclear if she lost contact with her at some point.
Dana Cruz (Close friend)
Dana was the third person Zoey Brooks met at PCA and her second roommate. Zoey Brooks and Dana Cruz got along but argued with each other twice during their first year. Zoey Brooks often found herself breaking up an argument between Dana Cruz and Nicole Bristow, who argued most of the time. Zoey Brooks and Dana Cruz became best friends and worked together on school projects like making a commercial for a Jet-X bike. When Dana was accepted for the European Exchange Program, Zoey Brooks and Nicole Bristow became roommates with Lola Martinez, but it is unknown if they kept in contact with her or not, even before or during the events of the revival film.
Paige Howard (Friend)
Zoey Brooks and Paige Howard are good friends. Zoey Brooks helped Paige Howard find her classes on her first day at PCA and introduced her to her friends and roommates Lola Martinez and Quinn Pensky, who also become friends with her. Zoey Brooks helped Paige Howard when her science project for the school went wrong. After Paige Howard left to attend a new school, she and Zoey Brooks were still friends.

Zoey Brooks is quite close to her parents and gets along with them well. Zoey Brooks accepted their offer to move to England with them and attend Covington. But shortly after arriving, Zoey overheard Chase say that he's in love with Zoey and has been since they first met. She asked her parents to move back to PCA to be with Chase, but she when discovered that he had moved to England to be with her, she stayed at PCA. Zoey was still close to her parents after she moved back to PCA.
Dustin Brooks

Zoey is very close to her younger brother Dustin and acts like a mother-figure to him, to his annoyance. Zoey and Dustin have several falling outs throughout the show but get along well. In the "Drippin' Episode!", Dustin immediately ran to Zoey when he was scared temporarily and even made-up excuses to stay in her room because he missed spending time with her. Leaving her feeling happy upon hearing her brother's confession with Zoey, Quinn and Lola group hugging him.

Rebecca

Zoey Brooks and Rebecca were good friends at first, but when Rebecca learned of her friendship with Chase Matthews, she told Zoey Brooks to stay away from him. When Zoey Brooks told Chase Matthews about Rebecca he tried to talk to her and she admitted to threatening and disliking Zoey Brooks, which lead to Chase Matthews to break up with her. Later in Season 3 of the episode of Zoey's Balloon, Rebecca finds Zoey's balloon with her secret in it, which was for a class project, and threatened to tell the whole of PCA her secret.
Stacy
Stacy (not to be confused with Stacey Dillsen) is one of Zoey's two enemies who only appeared in Backpack. Zoey Brooks didn't mind Stacy when they first met, but Stacy stole Zoey's idea to decorate backpacks and was gaining lots of money off of it. To beat her out, Zoey improved a better design for the backpacks and succeeded. Ever since then, the two have disliked each other.
