Synopsis[]
“ | Follow Pacific Coast Academy alumni as they reunite for Logan and Quinn's wedding in the present day. — Blurb from Deadline[2] |
” |
Plot[]
Zoey Brooks, now 32 years old and a struggling television producer for a reality series called LOVE: Fully Charged, gets asked by her best friend Quinn Pensky to be the maid of honor in her and Logan Reese's upcoming wedding, which is scheduled on the same weekend as the shoot for the season finale of LOVE: Fully Charged. Further exacerbating this is the fact that Zoey still has repressed feelings for the best man, Chase Matthews, whom she has not seen or spoken to since abandoning him on a Hawaiian vacation right after high school. This led to their breakup, and Chase now has a new girlfriend. Zoey devises the elaborate plan to both attend the wedding and work the finale, and she also hires Todd Schupert, an actor who auditioned for LOVE: Fully Charged, to pose as her boyfriend.
The next day at the reception, Zoey reunites with most of her friends from high school; Quinn, now a successful inventor, Logan, who has inherited his father's fortune, Stacey Dillsen, now the runner of a popular murder podcast, Mark Del Figgalo, Stacey's husband and field producer, Michael Barret, now a successful rap producer, and Chase, now an elementary school teacher. After tending to Jordan B., one of the finalists on LOVE: Fully Charged, Zoey returns to the reception later at night and finds Quinn secluding herself, who reveals that she is feeling nervous about the wedding and is only going through with it to please Logan. The whole group decides to go out to a karaoke bar to reconnect and de-stress before the wedding rehearsal the next day. A confrontation ensues between Todd and Chase, the latter claiming that he is over Zoey and has moved on.
The next day, Todd watches Jordan so that Zoey can attend the rehearsal, but Jordan ends up getting amnesia from a head injury and forgets all of his lines for the LOVE: Fully Charged finale. The day of the wedding and finale arrives, and Zoey goes to pick up the wedding rings, Chase inadvertently joining her. Zoey and Chase are reluctant to engage with one another at first, but after being pressured into kissing by the ring shop workers (who mistook them for Quinn and Logan), they warm up to each other. Zoey apologizes to Chase for abandoning him in Hawaii and reveals that her reason for doing so was because she was afraid of things between them going down in flames again, as they always had, and reveals to him that she still has feelings for him after all this time. The two then share another, more genuine kiss.
En route back to the wedding, Zoey's self-driving car dies on the side of the road, forcing her and Chase to continue on foot. They arrive just in time and the ceremony starts, as does the finale of LOVE: Fully Charged, Zoey simultaneously fulfilling her maid of honor duties and feeding lines to Jordan via her phone and wireless earbuds. While giving the welcome speech, Stacey receives a lead that places Todd as a murderer, and Zoey ends up getting confused and feeds Jordan the wrong lines, and as a result the finale is ruined. Zoey then admits to everyone that she is working, and that Todd is not her boyfriend (nor a murderer) and actually an actor, and Quinn, fed up with Zoey's dishonesty and Logan's preference of making the wedding a spectacle over making it meaningful, calls off the ceremony and runs away. The wedding also ruined, Todd leaves, and Zoey gets fired for ruining the LOVE: Fully Charged finale.
Later, Zoey and Chase meet up at a beach, the latter revealing that he and his girlfriend had actually broken up weeks ago, and she only accompanied him to the wedding so he wouldn't be alone. Zoey then figures out how to fix everything and brings the whole gang back to their old school, Pacific Coast Academy (which is now abandoned after having been closed down years prior), where they spruce the place up. Logan apologizes to Quinn and convinces her to return to PCA with him, where the gang has set up an informal wedding venue to officiate Quinn and Logan's marriage. Zoey later gets a call from her boss, who tells her that the finale of LOVE: Fully Charged actually ended up being a huge success and offers her a promotion, which she accepts (with some extortion, including giving Todd a role on the show). She and Chase then dance together and profess their love for each other, sharing another kiss. Then Lyric Reese stop the music and plays Starships by Nicki Minaj and Zoey Brooks, Chase Matthews, Quinn Pensky Reese, Logan Reese, Stacey Dillsen, Todd, Mark Del Figgalo and the rest of the people at Logan and Quinn’s wedding, dancing too. After the ceremony, Stacey and Mark apologize to Todd for falsely accusing him of being a serial killer, but their accusation is proven to have actually been correct as Todd is shown to have a person inside of a body bag in the trunk of his car.

Notes & Trivia[]
- This marks the first appearance of Jamie Lynn Spears (Zoey Brooks) and Abby Wilde (Stacey Dillsen) since "Chasing Zoey" (Canada) and "PCA Confidential" (USA).
- It also marks the first appearances of Sean Flynn (Chase Matthews) and Christopher Massey (Michael Barret) since "What Did Zoey Say?"
- And additionally, the first appearances of Erin Sanders (Quinn Pensky), Matthew Underwood (Logan Reese) and Jack Salvatore Jr. (Mark Del Figgalo) since "Chasing Zoey."
- Alexa Nikolas, who portrayed Nicole Bristow from Seasons 1-2, did not reprise her role. This decision was made by Nikolas years ago after she left Zoey 101. She has also previously spoken out against Nickelodeon, which shares a parent company with Paramount+, for not protecting its child stars and even protested outside the studio with her group, Eat Predators.[8]
- Paul Butcher, who portrayed Dustin Brooks for all four seasons, shared a video on TikTok following the film's announcement implying his displeasure at the film's existence, and liking several comments openly voicing the same sentiment.[9] Butcher had previously taken issue with Spears' prior attempts to reboot the series.
- Kristin Herrera, who portrayed Dana Cruz in Season 1, revealed in the comments on an Instagram post she was offered the chance to reprise her role, but turned it down to focus on raising her child. However, she admitted it would have been fun playing her again.[citation needed]
- Victoria Justice, who portrayed Lola Martinez from Seasons 2-4, decided not to reprise her role, because of the issue of timing not working out for her, “I had a lot going on at the moment, to be honest, and timing-wise it was just hard to make it all work. It was not because of a lack of love for the cast and for that show,” she revealed. “I am so grateful people to that whole time in my life and for being on that show.”[10]
- Austin Butler, who played Zoey's boyfriend James Garrett in season 4, revealed he wasn't asked to return as the character for the film.[11]

- It is revealed that PCA shut down in 2009 due to angry complaints from parents leading to an investigation against the school's accreditation and the embezzlement fraud committed by Dean Rivers using the school's tuition money.
- This totally contradicts the Sam & Cat episode "#FirstClassProblems" where Coco appears and states she still works as a dorm advisor at PCA, and the episode "#MadAboutShoe", where Cat's computer is showing the PCA website. If the school were closed, its website would not be up.
- Audrey Whitby who plays Logan’s younger sister Lyric and Madeline Whitby, who is one of the co-writers of this movie are sisters in real life.
- It's revealed Logan previously proposed to Quinn several times in the past but said no until the 50th time.
- Mark is married to Stacey.
- Dustin has two kids and is married.
- Logan yelled "I love Quinn Pensky" while Quinn yells "And I love Logan Reese" just like they did in Chasing Zoey, which is possibly a call back.
