Time Capsule is the second episode of Season 2 and the 15th overall in the Nickelodeon TV series Zoey 101. It originally aired on September 18, 2005.

Plot

Zoey and her friends are assigned a time capsule project by Mr. Bender. Each student must choose something to represent themselves for future PCA students to uncover.

Logan debates which photo of himself to include, while Chase and Michael collaborate on a song about life at PCA. Nicole decides to contribute a dress, hoping future students will admire her style, while Lola hesitates to participate, confident that her future fame as a Hollywood star will make her contribution unnecessary. Meanwhile, Quinn struggles with her snoring problem, much to the annoyance of her roommates.

Zoey creates a video discussing her friendships, sparking Chase’s curiosity when she hints at saying something deeper about him. Unable to focus, Chase convinces Michael to help him dig up the time capsule that night to watch Zoey’s video. Despite retrieving the DVD, Chase decides not to watch it without Zoey’s permission and returns it to the capsule.

The next morning, Quinn reveals she has found a solution to her snoring: placing South African guppies in her nose. However, Coco unknowingly drinks the guppy water, ruining Quinn’s remedy.

The episode concludes with Zoey playfully hinting to Chase that he’ll learn what she said about him in 10 years, instead of 20, as the project originally intended.

Trivia

• Paul Butcher (Dustin Brooks) does not appear in this episode.
• Zoey appears in fewer scenes than usual because Jamie Lynn Spears was at cheerleading camp during filming and could only be on set for two days. This marks the second-least amount of screen time for Zoey, the least being Goodbye Zoey.
• This is the fourth episode to focus on Chase’s feelings for Zoey.
• On September 18, 2015, exactly 10 years after the premiere of this episode, a short video titled What Did Zoey Say?, created by Dan Schneider, premiered on YouTube and TeenNick. The video featured Sean Flynn and Christopher Massey reprising their roles as Chase and Michael, finally revealing what Zoey said about Chase in her video:

• This episode reveals Quinn’s snoring problem, which becomes a recurring gag. She uses South African guppies to stop snoring, a detail referenced in the Season 3 episode Zoey’s Balloon.

Goofs

• When Zoey and Chase are lying on the grass, Chase’s back alternates between being lit and not lit in different shots.
• Quinn’s snoring problem is mentioned here but not in New Roomies, when she shares a room with Zoey.
• Guppies are native to South America and the Caribbean, not South Africa as the episode incorrectly states.
• Despite previous mentions of Quinn having an extra toe, her feet in this episode do not show any extra toes.
• Chase and Michael’s clothes are soaking wet from the rain while digging up the time capsule but appear dry once they return inside.
• When the time capsule is first being buried, the student holding it on the left is wearing shorts. In the close-up shot of the capsule being lowered, the same student is suddenly wearing jeans.
