Election is the third episode in Season 2 and the 16th overall in the Nickelodeon TV series Zoey 101. It originally aired on October 16, 2005.
Plot
It's election time. Class presidents have to be voted for and Chase and Zoey nominate each other, both feeling the other would be a good president, although neither of them truly wants to be president. Quinn's boyfriend, Mark Del Figgalo is elected as well. Zoey and Chase make a pact that whatever happens, they promise that the election won't affect their friendship. However, when Logan helps Chase win the election (against his will) by giving away smoothies and school cash for votes for Chase, Zoey gets mad at Chase, thinking he's behind it.
Things go from bad to worse when a commercial smearing Chase, and promoting Zoey appears on the PCA TV's. Everyone becomes angry at Zoey, thinking she created it, but it turns out Chase was the one who created it, thinking it would help Zoey win. After realizing how badly it backfired, Chase confesses via teleconference that he himself created the commercial and drops out of the election. He and Zoey make amends later, and Zoey reveals she's dropped out of the election as well. With Chase and Zoey both dropped from the ballot, Mark goes on to win, much to Quinn's delight.

Trivia
- Paul Butcher (Dustin Brooks) does not appear in this episode.
- The picture of Zoey used in the commercial about Chase is taken from the episode Broadcast Views, identifiable by her top, the red chair she’s sitting on, and the background.
- Lola meets Mark for the first time in this episode.
- Chase mentions that Michael dated a girl named Karen Franklin two years earlier. In the previous episode, Logan plans to take a girl named Mandy Franklin to the prom before canceling. It is unclear if the two are related or if this is a coincidence.
- The name Karen Franklin is also mentioned in the Drake & Josh episode "Vicious Tiberius".
- This episode marks the only appearance of Melissa, a character with a heavy lisp and an obsession with Chase. Melissa shares similarities with future recurring character Stacey Dillsen, who instead has a crush on Logan.
- This episode aired on Jack Salvatore Jr's 16th birthday.
Goofs
- When Quinn shows the poll results, Nicole asks about the “green thing,” even though all the bars are clearly labeled with each campaigner’s name, making it obvious what they represent.
- Zoey claims she didn’t know Mark’s last name was Del Figgalo, but Courtney mentions his last name in front of Zoey in Quinn's Date.
- It is possible she forgot.
- During Chase’s confession at the PCA News conference, he says that his commercial falsely claims he “picks on little girls." However, the on-screen closed captioning incorrectly says that he "steals bunnies from little girls."
- In this episode Chase is fine with Zoey being on his roof. But in a later episode Chase agrees with Logan on being against girls being on the boy's roof.
